Al Nassr 3-1 Istiklol (2 Oct, 2023) Game Analysis

cristiano ronaldo made an important goal breakthrough for Al Nasr to spark his side’s 3-1 Asian Champions League rally against Istiklol at Al Awal Park on Monday.

Home favorites Al Nasr dominated the first half, but were improbably off the scoresheet in the opening 45 minutes and found themselves 1-0 down to their Tajik foes after Senin Sebai scored his side’s first shot just before the break.

The frustration continued for Al Nasr until Ronaldo finally equalized for the hosts — netting for the seventh game in a row — as he pounced on the rebound from his own blocked shot and chipped past Istiklol keeper Rustam Yatimov.

Anderson Taliska Ronaldo added two more within five minutes to complete the comeback of the opener and maintain Al Nasr’s perfect record in the early stages of the ACL, taking six points from their first two matches.

Iran’s Persepolis are second behind Al Nasr after a 1-0 win over Qatar’s Al Duhail, with Omid Alisha scoring in the 63rd minute to earn the 2018 and 2020 runners-up their first win of the campaign.

Elsewhere, Uzbekistan’s Nassaf Karshi maintained their perfect start in Group B with a 3-1 win over Qatar’s Al-Saad, while Al-Faisali lost 1-0 in Sharjah.

Only the 10 group winners and the six best performing runners-up will advance to the next stage.
