AIFF has sacked its general secretary due to a lack of confidence
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has sacked its general secretary Shaji Prabhakaran “due to a lapse of confidence”, a top official said on Wednesday. AIFF president Kalyan Chaubey on Tuesday issued the termination letter to Prabhakaran, who got the high-profile job on September 3, 2022.
AIFF vice-president NA Haris said, “AIFF President has given Prabhakaran a letter of termination. He is no longer AIFF Secretary General.” PTI. “Deputy Secretary General Satyanarayan M will continue his duties as Acting Secretary General,” he added.
Haris said there was a “trust lapse” between Chaubey and Prabhakaran and even members of the AIFF executive committee were not happy with the way the sacked general secretary had acted.
A meeting of the Executive Committee will be held in New Delhi on Thursday and the members will be formally appraised of the progress besides discussing other issues. Harris said there is no need for the AIFF Executive Committee to approve the President’s decision.
“The post of Secretary General is a salaried post and he is not appointed by the Executive Committee. The President has the power to appoint and remove the Secretary General. So the President has issued the resignation letter,” said Haris.
Prabhakaran was appointed at the first executive committee meeting of the new dispensation that took over after the elections on 2 September. He was earlier serving as the president of Football Delhi. He resigned from that post and took over as AIFF General Secretary on 6 September 2022.

What is happening with PV Sindhu?
Long story short, could be PV Sindhu Out of action till February 2024. According to Tuesday’s BWF rankings, the two-time Olympic medalist had a secure ranking symbol next to his name. A player may submit a request for a protected ranking when he is unable to compete in a tournament for a minimum of three months. The protected ranking essentially ensures that his ranking remains the same – in his case #11 – when he returns to the tour.
It comes as a blow for Sindhu as she bounced back from a five-month layoff earlier this year and fought her way back into the top 10 in the world. And how did Indus react to this development? Responding to a meme (hehe):
