PHILADELPHIA — Eagles quarterback Jalen gets hurt Played a brace on his left leg in the second half of Sunday night’s 31-17 win over the Miami Dolphins.
Hearts didn’t go into too much detail after the game, but a source said it was believed to be a knee injury.
“I’ll be fine,” Hurts said, though when asked if that’s something that will affect him going forward, he replied, “I hope not.”
Sunday Hurts rushed 11 times (including three touchdowns) for 21 yards and a touchdown while throwing for 279 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. He rushed three times in the second half.
Hurts looked impressive as he jogged off the field after the game. Teammates indicated he played through the pain.
“I don’t want to trade him there, but he’s a tough guy,” the receiver said AJ Brown said
“Our style of play, sometimes he can scramble and get knocked down,” added the right tackle Lane Johnson. “But he does a good job. He never shows it or complains or anything.”
It was late in the second half and Hearts came out of the tunnel for backup Marcus Mariota He warmed up on the sidelines in his absence, creating some confusion as to who would be under center if the offense recovered.
However, coach Nick Siriani said there was no doubt Hearts would continue to play.
“He played the rest of the game and played at a very high level,” Siriani said. “I thought he played really great. Man, he’s a competitor. There’s nobody else I’d rather be our quarterback. He played his butt off tonight. He’s tough.”
Hurts had a pair of turnovers in the game, including a pick-six, bringing his turnover total to 10 on the season — second most in the NFL. Desmond Ryder of the Atlanta Falcons. Hurts has hit a career-high three shutouts.
But he kept putting up points, and Philadelphia kept winning, improving to 6-1 on the year.
On the night the Eagles wore the throwback Kelly green jersey, Hurts tied Randall Cunningham for the most rushing touchdowns by an Eagles quarterback (32).
“It’s crazy,” Hurts said. “It’s kind of cool to do it in his old jersey.”
Asked what is up with his injury this week, Hurts said: “Not much. Just get ready for the next opponent.”
