Portland Trail Blazers trading guard Damian Lillard to play alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo The Phoenix Suns are also in talks with the Milwaukee Bucks as part of a three-team deal, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on Wednesday.
The deal comes months after Lillard officially requested a trade in early July as the Blazers decided to take a patient approach to negotiations.
Lillard left Portland after 11 seasons where he made seven All-Star and All-NBA teams and led the franchise to the playoffs eight times, including an appearance in the Western Conference Finals in 2018-19. He is first in team history in both points and 3-pointers and second in assists.
On Wednesday he took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to say he was excited for the next chapter.

Lillard, 33, had a career year last season, averaging 32.2 points and 7.3 assists but sat out the final month of the season and played just 58 games. The highlight of Lillard’s season came in February. 26 against the Houston Rockets, when he scored 71 points.
According to ESPN Stats and Data Research, Lillard’s 32.2 points per game are the most for a player to switch teams in the postseason.
Despite Lillard’s numbers, Portland failed to make the playoffs for the second straight season for the first time in his career. The Blazers elected to make their draft picks after both seasons, most recently selecting Guard Scott Henderson 2 overall pick with the no. Lillard’s trade request came shortly after.
The Blazers remain engaged elsewhere in the deal and will be expected to immediately engage competing teams in trade talks to move to Holiday, Wojnarowski said. Portland is committed to its young group of talented guards.
The Bucks emerged as the consensus favorite to win the NBA title after the trade, going 4-1 at US Sportsbooks. Milwaukee was listed as the fourth-favorite behind the defending-champion Denver Nuggets, Boston Celtics and Suns.
