Sources – Nuggets’ Jamal Murray (hamstring) likely out 3-4 weeks

Denver Nuggets star Jamal Murray He will likely be sidelined for the rest of the month with a right hamstring strain, sources told ESPN on Wednesday.

The Nuggets are taking a cautious approach to ensure there are no lingering problems with the hamstring, and there is an expectation that Murray will need three to four weeks to properly heal before he can return to action, sources said.

Marre suffered the injury in Saturday night’s win over the Chicago Bulls. The point guard missed time with a similar injury late in training camp in October, but Nuggets coach Michael Malone indicated Murray’s recent hamstring strain came in a specific game while playing the Bulls.

So far, Murray has missed two games — both wins for the Nuggets, who are 7-1 as they prepare to face the visiting Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night (ESPN).

“It’s going to be something that’s going to be longer than we’d like,” Malone said this week. “You have to keep the big picture in mind and make sure we’re putting him in a position to heal before he comes back.”

Murray, 26, is a mainstay of the Nuggets’ championship team with a two-time MVP Nikola Jokic. Murray enjoyed a spectacular postseason as Denver won the NBA title a season ago, averaging 26.1 points, 7.1 assists and 5.7 rebounds in 20 playoff games.

The Nuggets are starting veteran guards Reggie Jackson Murray in place and getting contributions from young guards Colin Gillespie And Julian Strother.
